Funktionen
Die eigentliche Grundfunktion bei Keyfindern ist die per Smartphone auslösbare Alarmfunktion, der beim Wiederfinden des verlegten Schlüsselbundes hilft. Dies funktioniert bei allen Modellen zuverlässig. Grundvoraussetzung ist eine Bluetooth-Verbindung zwischen Smartphone und dem Tracker.
Eine praktische Zusatzfunktion ist die bidirektionale Suche. Hierbei löst der Nutzer per Schlüsselfinder einen Alarm am Smartphone aus. Das ist praktisch, wenn man nicht mehr weiß, wo das Telefon gerade liegt. Zwar funktioniert solch eine Smartphone-Suche auch mit Apps, die Nutzung des Keyfinders ist allerdings sehr komfortabel.
Dank des Alarms, ist das Wiederfinden sehr einfach.
Eine weitere Funktion ist die Möglichkeit, die GPS-Daten des letzten bekannten Aufenthaltsorts des Schlüsselfinders zu ermitteln. Wer seinen Schlüsselbund außerhalb der Bluetooth-Reichweite verlegt hat, kann so zumindest einen ungefähren Aufenthaltsort herausfinden. Damit das zuverlässig funktioniert, muss allerdings ständig die Tracker-App im Hintergrund laufen. Das geht zulasten des Smartphone-Akkus. Uns hat dieses Extra in den letzten Jahren aber viel Gesuche erspart. Ein Live-Tracking, der im Zug vergessenen Tasche ist hiermit allerdings nicht möglich.
Die erweiterte Variante für diese Funktion ist die sogenannte Crowd-Suche. Die Idee hinter der gemeinsamen Suche ist einfach und genial. Geht der Schlüsselfinder verloren, kann er auch von anderen Nutzern in Bluetooth-Reichweite getrackt und dessen Position über einen Server an den Nutzer weitergegeben werden. Der im Zug vergessene Gegenstand kann so annähernd in Echtzeit verfolgt werden – soweit die Theorie.
In dicht besiedelten Gebieten, in denen jeder ein Smartphone einsetzt, funktioniert das System gut, zumindest mit dem Apple Airtag (Testbericht) und anderen Keyfindern, die Apples Find-my-Funktion (Wo-ist-Suche) unterstützen. Android- und Apple-Nutzer mit Schlüsselfindern ohne Find-my profitieren in der Praxis wenig bis gar nicht von der Crowd-Suche. Grund hierfür sind die zahlreichen proprietären Apps, die für diese Tracker benötigt werden. Nur Nutzer mit der identischen App können den Standort erfassen und weiterleiten. Bei der mäßigen Verbreitung der Tracker und einer Unmenge an unterschiedlichen Keyfinder-Apps, vergehen so selbst an viel frequentierten Orten Tage bis Wochen, bis die Position erfasst wird. In ländlichen Regionen ist die Hoffnung auf ein erfolgreiches Tracking noch geringer.

In der Praxis ist die Live-Verfolgung, echtes Tracking, aktuell nur mit Geräten aus dem Apple-Kosmos sinnvoll nutzbar. Hier funktioniert das ganze allerdings hervorragend und sehr zuverlässig – in Städten sogar annähernd in Echtzeit. Neben dem Apple Airtag (Testbericht) unterstützen mittlerweile auch andere Tracker den Standard. Schlüsselfinder, welche ausschließlich für iOS-Geräte geeignet sind, haben wir aktuell im Testbetrieb und werden dazu eine eigene Bestenliste veröffentlichen. Für Apple-Nutzer empfehlen wir aktuell das Airtag. Anbei eine Auswahl an Schlüsselfindern mit der Find-my-Funktion.
Schade, dass sich die anderen Hersteller nie auf einen gemeinsamen App-Standard für Android einigen konnten, dann wäre diese Funktion von echtem Nutzen. Wer Angst vor Missbrauch seiner Daten hat, sollte ohnehin ein Modell ohne diese Funktion kaufen oder zu einem Schlüsselfinder mit Funkfernbedienung greifen.
Den Keyfinder von Samsung hatten wir ebenfalls im Test. Das Besondere hier: Das Galaxy SmartTag+ (Testbericht) funktioniert, ähnlich wie die Find-my-Modelle, mit einer großen Zahl an Samsung-Devices von Smartwatch über Smartphone bis zum Tablet. Die Crowd-Suche liefert hier zwar deutlich bessere Ergebnisse als alle anderen Android-Lösungen, allerdings bleibt der volle Funktionsumfang nur Samsung-Nutzern vorbehalten. Andere Android-Geräte unterstützen nur die Grundfunktionen, weshalb das Modell nicht in der Bestenliste auftaucht. Für Samsung-Galaxy-Geräte wäre das Galaxy SmartTag+ (Testbericht) aber unsere erste Wahl.

Für alle anderen Android-Smartphones kommt unsere Top 10 in Frage. Bis auf eine echte Tracking-Funktion arbeiten die aufgezählten Geräte alle zuverlässig. Einige dieser Modelle sind außerdem in der Lage, die Smartphone-Kamera auszulösen oder eine Sprachaufnahme am Handy zu starten. Wer bei der Suche auch visuell unterstützt werden möchte, sollte zudem darauf achten, dass eine LED im Tracker verbaut ist. Allein aus Umweltschutzgründen, sollte die Batterie der Schlüsselfinder austauschbar oder wieder aufladbar sein. Wegwerfgeräte mit fest verbauter Energiequelle haben wir daher in unserer Bestenliste erst gar nicht berücksichtigt.
Platz 1: Musegear Finder 2
Der Finder 2 überzeugt durch seinen Funktionsumfang und die einfache Bedienung.
Der Finder 2 von Musegear (Testbericht) bietet noch immer ein hervorragendes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und schafft es auf Platz Eins. Der kompakte Tracker bietet nicht nur eine ordentliche Ausstattung, sondern ist mit nicht mal 8 Gramm auch ziemlich leicht und eine Registrierung wird auch nicht benötigt. Die Reichweite von 60 Metern ist ausreichend hoch – ebenso wie die Lautstärke des Schlüssel-Alarms. Einziges Manko dieses Modells ist das zwar gut verarbeitete, aber nicht extrem stabile Kunststoffgehäuse des Finder 2. Der Tracker von Musegear ist in verschiedenen Farben verfügbar und der Preis von circa 25 Euro gerechtfertigt.
Der Hersteller Musegear hat inzwischen auch ein wiederaufladbares Modell, eine Mini-Variante und einen Tracker im Kreditkartenformat im Angebot.
Platz 2: Tile Pro 2022
Schon der ältere Tile Pro hat eine erstaunlich hohe Reichweite. Die Version 2022 erhöht diese sogar auf über 100 Meter.
Den zweiten Platz sichert sich der Hersteller Tile mit dem Pro-Modell (Testbericht alte Version). Anders als bei den ersten Trackern des Herstellers ist hier auch die Batterie austauschbar. Das eigentliche Highlight des Tile Pro war schon immer die hohe Reichweite. Im Test der ersten Pro-Variante mit einem Huawei P20 Pro erreichen wir im Freien die vom Hersteller angegebene maximale Distanz von 90 Metern – ein Rekord zu dem Zeitpunkt. Die Nachfolgevariante Tile Pro von 2022 funkte im Test sogar über 100 Meter weit – bei freier Sichtverbindung. So weit kommt kein anderer Tracker. Die Ausstattung von Tile ist insgesamt ordentlich. Eine Fernauslöse-Funktion für die Smartphone-Kamera und eine Signal-LED sind allerdings nicht vorhanden. Und mit knapp 35 Euro ist der Tile Pro verhältnismäßig teuer und für den vollen Funktionsumfang mit etwa einer 30-Tage-Historie und diversen Alarmfunktionen ist zusätzlich ein 39 Euro teures Jahresabo nötig. Schade, rein technisch hat Tile die Nase vorn – Zusatzkosten und Registrierung geben aber Punktabzug.
Wer auch mit weniger Reichweite (60 Meter) auskommt, der sollte sich alternativ die Tracker Tile Mate, Slim, Sticker oder Sport ansehen.
Platz 3: Orbit Key

Der dritte Platz geht an den Schlüsselfinder Orbit Key (Testbericht). Dieser punktet nicht nur mit seinem schicken Gehäuse, bis auf eine LED verfügt der Tracker über Vollausstattung. Bidirektionale- und Crowd-Suche stehen ebenso zur Verfügung wie eine praktische Auslösefunktion für die Smartphone-Kamera. Größtes Manko des Key ist die verhältnismäßig kleine Reichweite von nur 30 Metern. Für das Wiederfinden in einer Wohnung ist diese Distanz allerdings locker ausreichend.
Platz 4: Chipolo Classic
Farbige Modelle sind einfacher zu finden.
Der in vielen Farben erhältliche Schlüsselfinder Chipolo Classic (Testbericht) landet auf dem vierten Platz. Neben der guten Verarbeitung und einer maximalen Reichweite von 60 Metern, überzeugt uns vor allem die hohe Lautstärke des Alarms. Eine Signal-LED und die Fernauslösung für die Smartphone-Kamera fehlen beim Chipolo Classic. Der größte Schwachpunkt des Trackers ist allerdings der fehlende Spitzwasserschutz. Wie bei allen Geräten mit Crowd-Suchfunktion ist eine Registrierung beim Hersteller nötig.
Neben den neuen Modellen mit Find-my wurde mittlerweile auch der Chipolo Classic überarbeitet.
Platz 5: Terratec Protect Mobile

Der fünftplatzierte Protect Mobile von Terratec (Testbericht) punktet mit einer guten Ausstattung und einem stabilen Gehäuse. Das Tracker-Design fällt etwas aus der Reihe. Der Schlüsselfinder sieht eher wie ein Autoschlüssel als ein Schlüsselanhänger aus. Die Reichweite beträgt knapp 40 Meter, was in der Praxis ausreichend ist. Wer auf einen Spritzwasserschutz verzichten kann und einen Tracker ohne Crowd-Suche kaufen möchte, ist mit dem Tracker von Terratec gut beraten.
Platz 6: Nutale Mini

Der getestete Nutale Mini punktet mit Mini-Abmessungen von 32 × 24 × 5 mm und einem Gewicht von unter 6 Gramm. Außerdem ist hier keinerlei Registrierung nötig, solange man auf die Crowd-Suchfunktion verzichtet. Zwar ist hier die Rückwärtssuche nach dem Smartphone nicht möglich und auch auf eine Fernauslösefunktion verzichtet der Hersteller, dafür kostet der zuverlässige Keyfinder nur knapp 16 Euro und bietet verschiedene Alarmtöne. Neben einem Klebe-Pad gehört auch eine Ersatzbatterie zum Lieferumfang. Die für den Betrieb benötigte App Findthing ist für Android und iOS verfügbar.
Wer auf Smartphone-Suche und Crowd-Funktion nicht verzichten will, sollte sich die Keyfinder Nutale Findthing, Focus und Mate ansehen. Die Geräte Nutale Air und Nutale Air Pro arbeiten hingegen mit Find-my und somit nur mit Geräten von Apple.
Platz 7: TrackR Bravo
Das Modell Bravo von TrackR (Testbericht) landet auf Platz Nummer sieben. Der Schlüsselfinder punktet mit schickem Gehäuse, Crowd-Suche, kleinen Abmessungen und einem niedrigen Gewicht. Eine Auslösefunktion für die Kamera und eine Signal-LED sind beim Bravo nicht verbaut. Wer sich damit und mit der verhältnismäßig niedrigen Reichweite von 30 Metern anfreunden kann, bekommt einen zuverlässigen Tracker. Leider ist der Preis in den letzten Monaten stark gestiegen – das Modell war zwischenzeitlich für unter 20 Euro erhältlich.
Platz 8: Gigaset Keeper
Der Keeper hilft bei der Suche des Smartphones.
Der Keeper von Gigaset (Testbericht) ist von der Ausstattung her ähnlich, wie der TrackR Bravo und hat eine Reichweite von etwa 35 Metern. Dieser Tracker verfügt allerdings über keine Crowd-Suche. Dies muss aber kein Nachteil sein. Das Fehlen der Funktion kommt all Jenen entgegen, die befürchten, dass die persönlichen Daten in falsche Hände geraten könnten. Um eine einmalige Registrierung beim Hersteller kommt man trotzdem nicht herum. Mit knapp 20 Euro gehört der Keeper zu den günstigsten Schlüsselfindern.
Platz 9: Callstel

Das Modell Callstel kommt im schlanken Kreditkartenformat daher und kostet gerade einmal 17 Euro. Der von Pearl gelieferte Keyfinder, der auch etwa bei Amazon gelistet ist, wiegt 12 Gramm und bringt es trotz der geringen Größe auf eine ordentliche Reichweite von knapp 50 Metern bei freier Sicht.
Neben Rückwärtssuche und Crowd-Funktion ist auch der Fernauslöser für die Smartphone-Kamera an Bord. Der nach IP67 zertifizierte Schlüsselfinder arbeitet allerdings erst nach einer Registrierung in der für iOS und Android erhältlichen App iTrackEasy.
Platz 10: Orbit Card
Der ideale Tracker für den Geldbeutel.
Der Tracker Orbit Card (Testbericht) verzichtet zwar über eine Signal-LED und einen Spritzwasserschutz, dafür punktet er durch seine außergewöhnliche Form. Der Schlüsselfinder Card ist nämlich gar nicht für den Einsatz am Schlüsselbund, sondern für die Suche des Geldbeutels gedacht. Wer möchte, kann mit dem Tracker in Kartenform sogar seine Smartphone-Kamera auslösen. Die Reichweite ist mit 30 Metern zwar ausreichend, das Modell von Callstell hat insgesamt aber die Nase vorn. Wer Hilfe bei der Suche seines Portemonnaies benötigt, muss hier verhältnismäßig tief in die Tasche greifen.
